Ug, this book was such a downer for me. I was really looking to learning more about history and the people who made things happen. Instead, Protest!" How People Have Come Together to Change the World made me wonder how this book even got published.

Protest! talks about different issues, starting in 1170 BCE with a workers' strike. It literally has only three short paragraphs and a lot of illustrations to tell that story. I kept wondering more about it and if I was going to find out better facts? But nope, it never happened.
Different kinds of protests throughout time are covered. Everything from full on marches, to written protests, and everything in between is talked about in this book.
LGBTQ+ protests, different protests having to do with those of race/ethnicity/color, climate issues, political freedoms, and even people protesting about clothing are covered in this book. But do you know what is rarely talked about? Religion. And that was really weird to me. Religion, especially historically, has made up a huge, HUGE part of people's lives and it seems as though that topic was deliberately left out of this book. Why? I'm still trying to figure it out.
Protest! seems to be a book with a liberal slant that doesn't teach much about anything. After perusing it for a bit, my teenage son put the book down and told me that the book was silly and leaned too much on the illustrations as opposed to facts to interest him. I echo his feelings.
