Picture book review: 'The Book of Hugs' is a light-hearted and simple book for children

While my kids thoroughly enjoyed The Book of Hugs, I was left feeling rather disappointed. There isn't anything wrong with the book, I just felt like it was lacking in....something. And I'm not sure what that something was. Maybe it was just too simplistic for me? But, whatever the case, The Book of Hugs turned out to be a fun, read-it-once-and-be-done-with-it book for our family.

The Book of Hugs teaches children about different reasons to give hugs. Hugs can be given for love, excitement, and consolation. It's a good idea to ask someone, before hugging them, if they actually want a hug.

The illustrations are simple and easy on the eyes. And, really, like I said before, there isn't anything wrong with the book. I just felt like author Tim Harris could have put more in to it.

The Book of Hugs is a picture book that parents can feel comfortable reading to their children. The illustrations are delightful and kids will probably enjoy looking at them more than hearing the actual book read.
