Book review: 'Disney Stories for 2-Year-Olds' is an uplifting read for olders too

Disney Stories for 2-Year-Olds is a hardback book of fourteen short stories about Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, and all the other classic Disney characters. I believe all these stories are originals, as I've never seen them in other books, movies, or TV shows.

One of the things I really, really appreciated about this book was how kind the characters were. The words "please" and "thank you" were said, something that is sadly lacking in many other children's books.

I was also impressed with how the Disney characters were respectful and helpful toward one another. Reading this book was not only entertaining, but it was calming and uplifting as well. When characters made mistakes, forgot important events, or needed help, their friends were always there to cheer them on and lend a hand. Blame and meanness was never shown; rather forgiveness and looking on the bright side.

Of course, it also helped that the full-color illustrations were fun and eye-catching. But then, isn't that how Disney always is?

While it's titled Stories for 2-Year-Olds, I think this book is for the older two-year-old through eight-year-old. My kindergartner and third-grader have both enjoyed this book, the one being read to, the other reading it on her own.

Stories for 2-Year-Olds is a great one to have in the home because it teaches respect and kindness. This is a clean book with nothing offensive in it.
