Okay, let's just talk about the #1 thing that surprised me about this book. It's size. As in, Weird but True: Halloween: 300 Spooky Facts to Scare You Silly was a lot smaller than I expected. Six and a half inches by six and a half inches makes this little book easy to hold in your hands aaaaaand easy to get lost, at least at my house!
This latest edition of the Weird but True series is full of scientific and historical facts about all sorts of things. Now, some facts are obviously Halloween-related, like how many pounds of candy is gone through on October 31 and which city in USA set a record for lighting the most Jack-O-Lanterns. But other facts are a bit of a stretch, like how white chocolate isn't actually chocolate (I KNEW IT! Chocolate needs to be brown folks; but that's another topic for another post) or about how loud the loudest scream recorded was.
But still, this book is a fun one-time read of interesting facts. However, I don't know how often we'll pick this book back up, after perusing through it the first time. But hey, if Halloween is your thing then check this volume out!
Weird but True: Halloween: 300 Spooky Facts to Scare You Silly, is full of facts about the popular US holiday. This book does talk about haunted houses and other Halloweenish-themed things, so if spiders and mysterious and scary legends aren't your thing, then this book isn't for you.
