Book review: 'Disney Stories for 3-Year-Olds' is a retelling of familiar favorites

While Disney Stories for 2-Year-Olds was full of gentle stories, Disney Stories for 3-Year-Olds does a great job of handling the scary/tense moments in Disney movies and either calming down or almost skipping right over them in this book. And you know what? I like that! Because, really, what parent wants to read scary stories to their 3-year-olds?

This book is a compilation of 14 of Disney's stories, all of which have been movies and the newest of which came out in 1997. Classics such as Bambi, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, and 101 Dalmatians are here. While Hercules and the Lion King are included, you won't be reading about Elsa or Rapunzel.

My kids enjoyed this book, but they preferred Disney Stories for 2-Year-Olds because the stories were unfamiliar to them. So, depending on what you think your kids would prefer, either book could be a great addition to your family library.

As a mom, I appreciated that this book had more of the classic Disney movies, instead of all ones that have been released more recently. Honestly, I get tired of seeing the same Disney characters on sale every time I go to the store, so seeing these older faces was refreshing.

I did notice that, while most of the stories are from the Walt Disney's era, none of the Disney princess stories were included. Again, that's a win in my eyes! But maybe I'm the only one who gets tired of all the princess hoopla?

Disney Stories for 3-Year-Olds is a great book that smooths over scary parts and has wonderful illustrations. This book is appropriate for young children and can also be enjoyed by elementary-aged kids (my 8-year-old is currently by my side reading this book as I'm typing up the review).
