Book review: 'Sleep Tight, Sleepy Bears' is a simple, classic bedtime book

I found myself yawning several times while reading the book, "Sleep Tight, Sleepy Bears." And you know, I think that's just what author Margaret Wise Brown was hoping for. Because this is the perfect book to help young children calm down before bedtime.

With simple illustrations and a very simple plot (the bears are going to sleep), this book could just possibly become a timeless classic. While reading this to my young children, they never lost their concentration. That being said, they also haven't asked me to read it again. Maybe because they equate it with going to bed?
"Sleep Tight, Sleepy Bears" is a simple picture book geared toward young children with nothing offensive in it. Many of the lines are repeated and, while reading it can be tedious for adults, the repetition ends up being very calming.

Popular author Margaret Wise Brown died in 1952, her books continue to be widely published and read. Freelance illustrator Julie Clay lives in the United Kingdom.
