Book review: the first book in the new Nat Geo Kids series, "Animals on the Go" is a marvelous read

Monday is Earth Day! In honor of the earth, which is a pretty great place to live, for the next few days I'm spotlighting books that focus on nature, animals, and all kinds of other earth-awesome things.

So let's start with this book for the littles. National Geographic Kids is starting a new series of board books that are pretty wonderful. We've been able to have two of them in our home and my toddler has been obsessed with "Animals On the Go."

I've read this book to her a few times and she's captivated. There is the perfect ratio of words per page that keeps her interest. You know how some books have too many words for toddlers and they get bored before you've finished reading? Yeah, this book isn't like that.

Also, she really loves all the photos of the animals. The bright colors and beautiful photographs have made this book her favorite one to look at on her own too (winner!). She'll tote this book around and show the pictures to anyone who will look at them.

"Animals on the Go" is a clean book with nothing offensive in it. All 25 of its pages are boards, so you won't have to worry about toddlers ripping them into oblivion (I'm not the only one who worries about things like that, right?).

Author Ruth A. Musgrave has written various articles and books for National Geographic Kids. She lives in the U.S.A.
