Book review: 'Chomp' is a great book about chewing animals

I feel like I'm getting redundant here, but I LOVE the photographs in any National Geographic book. I mean, I LOOOoooooove them. Seriously. So, this book review is about a National Geographic Kids book and just know that I think the photos are amazing.

K, moving on!

The Black Piranha, Humboldt Squid, Brown Rat, and Mata Mata Turtle are just a few of the animals highlighted in this 96 page, full-color book called, "Chomp!" Learning about each animal takes less than 5 minutes and the given details are pretty captivating. For instance, did you know that African Wild Dogs often start eating their prey before the doomed animals are dead? Yeah, kinda gross, but also kinda cool to learn about.

This book is packed full of information. More than 30 animals are talked about and each has at least one glorious photo, their number of teeth, where they live, and what they like to eat listed. Interspersed throughout the book are also sections that talk about crazy experiences author Brady Barr has gone through during his 30 years of chasing animals around the world.

"Chomp!" is a clean book that can be fun for both kids and adults. While this book has clean language and violence isn't glorified, it does talk about how animals kill their prey, so anyone with delicate sensitivities might need to stay away. However, science and animal-lovers will most likely delight in this book as it makes animals' eating habits come alive.

Barr is the host of Dangerous Encounters with Brady Barr and is a National Geographic Explorer.
