My six-year-old has been playing with this book/building set for two days and it isn't the first time it's been out. To say that my kids have enjoyed these building sets would be an understatement. And the awesome, yet surprising, thing is that all of them, ages 2 through 12, enjoy them.
So let's get on with my review!
"Busy Builders: Construction Site" is a great kit for kids to enjoy hands-on learning about construction vehicles and have some plain old fun. The box everything comes in turns into the school building with a buildable road encircling. The fun really gets intense when kids put together a bulldozer, all the construction site workers (complete with their trusty dog!), road signs, traffic cones, a dump truck, and a digger. Depending on the age of the child, putting together all these pieces can take anywhere from an hour to a few days.

There's also a full-color book that comes along with this building pack. The book describes the roll of construction vehicles in a fun and entertaining way. One of my favorite things about this set is that the book also tells about the rolls of all the different kinds of construction workers. I'm pretty familiar with how a dump truck works, but I had no idea that construction crews were also made up of bricklayers, plumbers, ironworkers, and many others. This 32 page book packs a lot of knowledge as it describes, step by step, the stages of building a school. My kids vacillate between building the construction set-up and sitting on the couch, reading the book. It's hard to tell which they like best.
