New goals, my deep (deep = random) thoughts, and a project I've been working on

I've finally almost finished unpacking. Almost.

Also, this new neighborhood we moved into gives out great Halloween candy. I seriously think half my kids' bags are full of chocolate. CHOCOLATE, people! Hardly any smarties or dum dums.

Halloween candy confession: Most of the candy I gave out to the trick-or-treaters this year was stuff I've been saving all year long. As in, last year's leftover candy was mixed with the leftover Valentine candy and just handed out to those cute unsuspecting kids. Yes, I gave out stale candy. Don't worry, I'm pretty sure all those sugar-infested goodies don't rot/mold/spread botulism.

Random piece of information: my brother Ben has always been nervous about getting botulism. We continually tease him about it. He just rolls his eyes and declares that someday we won't laugh (once we've come down with the dreaded illness), but it hasn't happened yet so we keep teasing him.
Speaking of Ben, here he is! Oh, just ignore our other brother being strange in the background. And Rae, also being strange. Do you ever wonder if you're the only normal one in your family? Or is that just me?

I have a new goal: to write a chapter of our love story once a week. I know, kind of crazy after only having one post in the past eight months (so ashamed). We'll see how long this goal of mine lasts. If nothing posts on Thursday then you'll know I've already failed.

Speaking of posting days, Mondays are going to be book reviews. I'm collecting quite a stack from publishers who keep sending me books (my kids are in heaven) and rather than inundate the www with good, or bad, or mediocre books all at once, I've decided to limit the goodness to once a week.

My husband took me out for sushi last week! People, Marco doesn't like trying new restaurants, so him taking me out to a restaurant we've never eaten at before was him speaking my love language. Then he took me out for sugar after. True love, right there.
Marco said he knew I'd rather have the top of my head cut off than miss any of the yummy food in this photo. He was right.
Oh, and I got to eat my dinner out of a BENTO BOX!! You guys, I know some people dream about winning the Nobel Peace Prize/being elected to state office/establishing world peace, but I've always wanted to eat out of a bento box ever since I saw Totoro. It didn't disappoint.

I've been working on a little project for the Deseret News the past few weeks. It won't be published until early (way early ) 2017, but I'm really excited about it. Once it goes live, you'll all be notified via this blog and I'll probably be really annoying for an entire post oozing about how fun it was to write.

Enough of this randomness, I'm getting back to writing my epic love story.

  1. Congrats on doing the sushi thing. My mom hates that stuff something about little worms in raw fish I guess. Your sushi looked safe though! California rolls with precooked crab flavored flakes is the best. We totally need to come see your new place.
